Mothers' Union Roadshow Stirling
Alongside the work of Mothers’ Union in developing countries, the Roadshow
visitors got an overview of local community work in the Fife area, when
Una Fidoe gave a moving account of her volunteer time spent supporting
children and parents in Kirkcaldy Contact Centre, where a parent
(following a separation or divorce) who isn’t resident in the family home
can talk and play with their children in a neutral, warm and safe
environment.
“We want to reach out to communities through an informed, engaged and
supportive network of local members and supporters,” said Chief Executive, Reg Bailey, who
compered
the event. “Christian Care for Families is not just a strapline, but a
vital outreach work of our members. We want to encourage more people to
get involved with issues affecting families, and to Reach Out with
effective support via Mothers’ Union.”

New Mothers' Union African branch in Glasgow
At the recent
MU Festival service in Bearsden the MU in Glasgow & Galloway were
delighted to admit 15 new members who come from many different countries
within Africa. They are hoping to start a new branch with the help of
their minister Rev Lucas Njenga. Their church is affiliated with the Anglican church (at present they worship in
Glasgow Caledonian University) and they run the 'Chat House' in Maryhill
Road, Glasgow, a centre for community transformation, social integration
and fun, there are several outreach projects there. Their choir lifted our
worship and the spectacle of everyone in their national dresses was
wonderful said Diocesan President Enid Scobie.

Commissioning of Scottish
Provincial President Sheila Redwood and Worldwide President Rosemary
Kempsell by the Archbishop of Canterbury
The service in
Southwark Cathedral on 1st February was truly memorable. A packed
cathedral with an atmosphere of expectancy, excitement and joy, blessed by
the most wonderful spring like day with not a cloud in the sky. There was
lots of music and singing, the bells pealed out and the Archbishop was
positive in his support for the MU and in what we do. It was a memorable
start to the Triennium and an endorsement for Rosemary and the new Trustee
board to carry on the work of the MU worldwide.

This took place at the start of General synod where we had an MU
